{"id":475,"date":"2025-02-02T21:49:51","date_gmt":"2025-02-02T21:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tectuma.com\/?p=475"},"modified":"2025-08-12T19:05:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T19:05:14","slug":"frozen-pipes-multi-streaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tectuma.com\/?p=475","title":{"rendered":"Frozen Pipes, Power Fixes, and Multi-Streaming Experiments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Another Brutal Night: Frozen Pipes and a Chilly House<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last night, the temperature dropped to <strong>-15\u00b0F<\/strong>, which made for a <strong>very cold<\/strong> morning. The first floor sat at <strong>56\u00b0F<\/strong>, and the <strong>kitchen cold water line froze<\/strong>\u2014not exactly the start I was hoping for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first order of business was <strong>getting the house warmed up<\/strong>. I set up some electric space heaters to help the furnace catch up. This house is tough to heat, but once it\u2019s warm, it holds heat like a battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, I tackled the <strong>frozen pipes<\/strong>. The cold water line always <strong>freezes under the kitchen sink<\/strong>, deep in the basement wall (a long story for another time). I opened the sink cabinet, placed a heater nearby, turned up the basement heater, and left the faucet open to encourage thawing. After <strong>a few hours with no luck<\/strong>, I had to bring out the <strong>big guns<\/strong>\u2014my plumber\u2019s torch. <strong>A few seconds of heat<\/strong>, and the water was flowing again! I would have done that first, but dragging a <strong>step ladder<\/strong> into the basement isn\u2019t exactly my favorite thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blown Breakers and a Lucky Dryer Fix<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of everything, <strong>a breaker blew<\/strong>\u2014likely from the extra space heaters. It <strong>knocked out the washing machine and my downstairs office lights<\/strong>. Since I was already in the basement, I reset it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While down there, I noticed <strong>one side of the double dryer breaker<\/strong> was halfway off. It was barely noticeable unless you shined a flashlight on it. After resetting it a few times, I got <strong>both sides fully ON<\/strong>, and just like that, the <strong>dryer had heat again<\/strong>. Looks like I <strong>don\u2019t need to replace the heating coil after all<\/strong>\u2014but at least I have the part if I ever need it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Multi-Streaming and Fixing Blurry YouTube Videos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I finally took a good look at our <strong>YouTube videos<\/strong>, and they are <strong>incredibly blurry<\/strong>\u2014way worse than expected. To make sure it wasn\u2019t our equipment, I checked the same videos on <strong>Twitch<\/strong>, and they were <strong>crystal clear<\/strong>. Looks like the <strong>export button on Twitch doesn\u2019t work as expected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, <strong>YouTuber Nutty<\/strong> released a video about <strong>SE Live<\/strong>, so we\u2019re diving back into <strong>multi-streaming<\/strong>. Tonight, we\u2019ll <strong>broadcast to YouTube, Twitch, and (new) Kick<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might notice <strong>Facebook is missing<\/strong> from that list. The reasons?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It\u2019s <strong>not supported<\/strong> by SE Live.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other programs that do support it are <strong>a pain to set up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even when it works, you <strong>almost have to reset it every time<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finding a live stream on <strong>Facebook is nearly impossible<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pups, Streaming Room Updates, and Tonight\u2019s Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stacie has been having a <strong>blast decorating<\/strong> the streaming room after we moved everything. Meanwhile, <strong>Rusty has spent most of the day in my lap or snoring in his bed<\/strong>. <strong>Sasha hates the cold<\/strong>, so she\u2019s barely come out from under her blanket. The rest of the pups have been following family members around the house\u2014so, just another <strong>normal<\/strong> day here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for <strong>tonight\u2019s stream<\/strong>, we\u2019ll probably <strong>wing it<\/strong>. It\u2019s <strong>too cold for house projects<\/strong>, and my remaining <strong>Amazon packages won\u2019t arrive until tomorrow<\/strong>.
