For me, it\u2019s by <strong>three wonderful pups<\/strong>, each excited in their own way. No matter how long or stressful the day has been, their enthusiasm always makes it better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week was a rough one. I had to be at work by <strong>4 AM on Wednesday<\/strong>, which meant skipping our usual stream and heading to bed <strong>extremely early<\/strong>. After working a <strong>12-hour shift<\/strong>, I was completely wiped out when I finally got home. If you were wondering why we weren\u2019t live, that\u2019s why. Thankfully, this doesn\u2019t happen often, and hey\u2014<strong>who couldn\u2019t use some extra cash?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Snowstorms Keep Rolling In<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weather has been <strong>absolutely insane<\/strong> the last few days. <strong>Snow, snow, and more snow<\/strong>. And just when we thought we had enough, they\u2019re now forecasting <strong>20 inches on Sunday<\/strong>. That\u2019s on top of everything we\u2019ve already gotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At times like this, I\u2019m grateful to live in a <strong>200-year-old house<\/strong>. If this place has stood strong through two centuries of North Country winters, I think we\u2019ll be fine. But still, when the forecast calls for <strong>that much snow<\/strong>, you can\u2019t help but worry a little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning More About Rusty\u2019s Cushing\u2019s Disease<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ve been diving deeper into <strong>Rusty\u2019s Cushing\u2019s diagnosis<\/strong>, and it all comes down to his body producing <strong>too much cortisol<\/strong>. Some of the symptoms he experiences include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drinking and peeing a lot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hair loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased flight-or-fight response<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weak muscles and low muscle tone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of that, he\u2019s also <strong>deaf, has bad joints, and poor eyesight<\/strong>. When you put it all together, you really start to get a picture of what life is like for the little guy. The good news is that <strong>he can still live a long and happy life<\/strong>\u2014he just needs extra care, patience, and love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make things easier for him, we set up a <strong>new safe space<\/strong>. I got a <strong>box, cut a doorway into it, added a bed and blanket<\/strong>, and placed it near our bed. This gives him a <strong>quiet retreat<\/strong> where he can feel warm, safe, and secure. Some of the other dogs have checked it out, but it\u2019s clearly <strong>Rusty\u2019s spot<\/strong>. Now that we know he actually <strong>uses it and loves it<\/strong>, we\u2019re planning something even better\u2014a <strong>custom nightstand with a built-in hideaway<\/strong> just for Rusty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Valentine\u2019s Day and Weekend Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow is <strong>Valentine\u2019s Day<\/strong>, but since I have to work, we\u2019ll see what we can do to celebrate. Maybe we\u2019ll <strong>shift things to the weekend<\/strong> and make a fun time out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Projector and Mobile Setup on the Way<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Big news\u2014we\u2019ve <strong>ordered a new projector and more cameras<\/strong>! I\u2019m determined to get a <strong>fully mobile streaming setup<\/strong> in this house so we can start working on <strong>more repairs<\/strong>. Being able to <strong>stream from anywhere<\/strong> in the house will open up a ton of possibilities, and I can\u2019t wait to test it all out next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s a lot coming up, and I\u2019m looking forward to getting back to work\u2014both on the house and the stream.
