My new brakes were delayed and now won\u2019t arrive until 8\/21. That\u2019s fine, I can limp by for now. But it got me thinking about brake maintenance and IT department comparison<\/strong>\u2014and how alike they really are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just like car brakes, IT departments are often ignored until something goes wrong. The only other time we look at them is during a yearly inspection, where we usually say, \u201cYeah, we can get by another year.\u201d<\/em> Both are critical for safety and stability, and both can cause major disasters if they fail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shop quoted me $1,400<\/strong> for new brakes. Instead, I ordered them myself for $142<\/strong> and will install them. Huge difference in cost! This highlights the same truth in IT: upgrading networks, fixing software, or troubleshooting issues can be done at a fraction of the price\u2014if you have the right people in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preventive maintenance is key, whether it\u2019s your car or your company\u2019s IT infrastructure. If you ignore small fixes, you\u2019ll eventually face much bigger (and more expensive) problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
