A Fun Weekend: St. Patrick’s Day, House Projects & The Electric State
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Hopefully, everyone is celebrating and having a great time.
Friday night, we finally watched The Electric State. Despite mixed reviews, I really enjoyed the visuals and the atmosphere of the world. It was definitely worth checking out.
Over the weekend, we also tackled a few small house projects, including:
– Hanging paintings
– Washing the front window
– Getting the lawn chairs out
Since the weather was warm, it was a great time to start prepping for summer.
Receipt Printer Setup – First to Get It Working with StreamerBot 1.0.0-Alpha!
One of the biggest projects this weekend was getting our receipt printer working with StreamerBot 1.0.0-Alpha.
From what I can tell, I’m the first person to get this working on the latest version. The process wasn’t easy—it took nearly the entire weekend to figure it out.
The first major challenge was getting the printer to communicate with Windows 10. That was frustrating on its own. Then, I found out that the DJ Theo tutorial no longer works with the new version of StreamerBot.
At that point, I had two options:
1️⃣ Revert back to an older version of StreamerBot
2️⃣ Build my own custom solution
Rather than take the easy route, I created my own setup from scratch. It took time, but now it works flawlessly!
What’s Next? A Live Demo & Possible Tutorial
Tonight on stream, I’ll break down exactly how I got the receipt printer working with StreamerBot 1.0.0-Alpha. If anyone is looking to set up a similar system, this will be a must-watch.
Once I clean up my install, I might also put together a full tutorial. There’s a lot of potential for interactive streaming with this setup, so I can’t wait to see what’s possible.
