Motivation to Keep Going: Family, History, and a Victorian Dream

  • by

Everywhere I look, I see posts about scams, layoffs, or the state of the job market. Those are important, but today I want to share something different: my motivation to keep going each morning.

For me, it starts with waking up to clean blue skies in a town that looks like a Norman Rockwell painting. Just across the street is a college, and only blocks away is the center of town. That view alone gives me energy to face the day.

My four boys, who are preparing for college, also inspire me. Watching them grow and plan their futures drives me to push harder. My better half is another anchor. She keeps my spirits high and reminds me I’m never in this fight alone.

Then there’s our 200-year-old Queen Anne Victorian home. Saving it has become my obsession. My dream is to place it on the historic registry and apply for grants to repair and preserve it. That will have to wait until I land my next role, but it remains a powerful goal that keeps me moving forward.

And of course, I can’t forget our four rescued chihuahuas. Despite their tough pasts, they show us unconditional love every day. If they can keep going, so can I.

All of this is my rocket fuel. It’s why I spend hours networking, applying, and searching for the right opportunity. Yes, there’s a lot on my shoulders, but I’ve never been one to back down. I love what I do, and I’m ready to get back to it.

That’s my story. Now I’d love to hear yours—what keeps you getting out of bed each morning?
