Finding Thanksgiving Gratitude During Hard Times

A Different Kind of Thanksgiving, Yet Still Full of Hope

This will be the first Thanksgiving where I do not have a job since I was in high school. My finances are weighing on me and I know I may not see much progress on the job front with the holidays coming up. I turned looking for work into a full time routine, which helps keep me moving. Even through all of this, I am still grateful for so much.

A Home Filled With Food, Warmth and Tradition

We managed to get everything we needed for Thanksgiving. We did not go overboard like years past, but we still ended up with more than enough and even have extra just in case. Our older boys will be handling Thanksgiving dinner this year and I could not be prouder of them. The house will be filled with good food, pies, treats, laughter and joy.

Of course our four chihuahuas will be right there under the table trying their best to convince everyone that they have never been fed before. They are small, but they put on Oscar worthy performances when food is involved.

Gratitude That Shines Through

Even without guests this year, I am surrounded by the people who matter most. I have time with my four boys, my better half and our pup pups. Our home is warm, decorated and full of spirit. The Macy’s parade will be on the TV and that always brings a familiar comfort. I am even planning to sneak in “It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)” because I could use a little miracle of my own.

Holding Onto Hope

Times are challenging, but moments like this remind me that joy can still fill a room even when life feels uncertain. Thanksgiving may look different this year, yet the heart of the holiday is alive and well. Family, warmth and gratitude will always carry us forward.

What About You?

As we head into the holiday, I would love to hear from you. What are you thankful for this year? Even the small wins count, and sometimes those are the ones that matter most.
