It was the night before Christmas and across LinkedIn’s site,
Not a recruiter was stirring, not even a byte.
My resume was polished and uploaded with care,
In hopes that a remote job soon would be there.
While others were nestled and dreaming with cheer,
I refreshed my job alerts for the thousandth time this year.
With coffee beside me and my laptop aglow,
I hoped that tomorrow an interview might show.
Then out in my inbox there arose a quick ping.
I opened my email to see what it would bring.
Away to my messages I flew like a flash,
Thinking maybe, just maybe, this one would not crash.
The subject line shimmered like new fallen snow.
A recruiter had written to tell me hello.
Although it was Christmas and hiring seemed slow,
This tiny spark of hope gave my confidence a glow.
Yet as quickly as it came, the reply faded away.
The role went on hold until some unknown day.
Still I kept searching because that is what you do.
Remote job hunting requires grit to push through.
So tonight I keep going with purpose in sight.
I believe the right company will see my value in light.
And I wish every job seeker strength, rest, and delight.
Happy Christmas to all and to all a job search done right.
