Violence Downtown Continues
Ari Samson Editor-in-Chief
What seemed to be a armistice in downtown Potsdam ended last night when two men were attacked outside The Bali Hai. Paramedics arrived on the scene after the fight had been broken up. The two men, Daniel Kelly of Syracuse, N.Y., a graduate of the State University College, at Potsdam and Mike Mclaughin of Camillus, N.Y., were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Both men were "treated and released," according to Debbie Kent, the nursing supervisor.
According to Officer Thomas of the Potsdam Police Department, the alleged attackers were Sean Rutherford and Tyler Macintosh, both of Cornwall, Ontario. They were arrested for disorderly conduct and released on $100 bail. Their court date was set for September 13th.
Francis X. Moore and Robert Gatchell, both living in the Delta Upsilon House at 30 Elm St. Potsdam, were also arrested for disorderly conduct at the scene. Officer Thomas suppositioned that this was because the individuals refused to disperse peacefully from the scene.
