Waking Up to Freezing Temps
This morning, we woke up to freezing temps of -11°F—not exactly the warmest way to start the day! The first floor felt like an icebox, which always happens when temperatures drop below 10°F. Even though it’s still cold, things are much better than when we first moved in.
Our first winter in this house was brutal. The furnace ran non-stop, and if the temperature outside dipped below 40°F, the indoor temperature started to drop too. Thankfully, the work we’ve done to improve insulation is helping. We still have a long way to go, but it’s progress!
Truck Update: A Small Win in Freezing Temps
Starting the truck today came with a pleasant surprise—the engine light turned off. It’s a relief, but I’m still keeping a close eye on it. The truck is our lifeline in these freezing temps, and with how much we rely on it, I’ll still be getting it checked out soon.
Freezing Temps and Our First Remote Camera Test
Last night, we reviewed footage from our first impromptu remote camera test, and we learned a lot:
- The camera needs its own scene—it was too cluttered with everything else.
- The audio was great up close but didn’t pick up well at a distance.
- The signal started breaking up the farther we moved from the house.
- There was way too much video of my butt (not exactly what we were testing for! 😂).
This was just our first big test, and every day, we’re improving. Testing things in these freezing temps helps us understand how to make everything work in tough conditions.
Stream Updates and Tonight’s Plans
Last night, I added new channel rewards for short meme videos. One of them, a dancing cat, turned out to be copyrighted, so we removed it. I’ll be adding more soon, but for now, I’m too tired and cold to do much else.
Tonight, we’ll continue making small improvements to the stream. Nothing major, just tweaking things as we go. It’s all part of the process.
Keeping the Pups Warm in These Freezing Temps
Most importantly, all of our pup pups are home, safe, and warm. On nights like this, that’s what really matters. They’re all snuggled up, staying cozy as the temps outside keep dropping.
